I have this week started taking Leflunomide, having discussed this with my GP and the consultant
regarding side effects., I know what I might expect.

Could anyone who has taken this drug give me some idea of how long is will be
before the possible side effects start to kick in (if they do!).

I've only been on it four days and as yet - nothingSmile, but I'd like to be forearmed.

Hi Gogs - I felt better than I have ever felt on Leflunomide. I did get some severe headaches when I was on it, which even migraleve didn't touch, but joints were great and I had so much energy! Unfortunately, my blood pressure went very high on it and I had to stop. Nothing else has ever had such a good impact on me.

Hoping you get some good results from this new treatment and side effects are minimal xx Ailsa

Hi Gogs,

I`m probably not the best one to ask about Leflunomide, as it didn`t work for me, and I had side effects from the word go. Like Ailsa, I had the awful headaches, but mine were accompanied by terrible sweats - definitely not the menopause, which I had been through many years before after a hysterectomy. I did, in fact, become quite ill on this drug, and was told to stop taking it as it played havoc with my liver.

Please don`t let my experience put you off, as everyone is affected differently, and side effects are possibilities, not inevitabilities. I hope it works really well for you,

I've been on this drug for 2 years and haven't had any real problems. My DAS have gone up so now want to add something
Else in I'm not keen to have more drugs that might cause liver problems so at the moment have up to the 3rd Dec
To think. Give it a go it's made my life bearable.

Thank you for your input.

Glad you mentioned headaches, I wondered why I had such an intense oneBlushing
So far so good. I'm only on 10mg at the moment, all being well should increase to 20mg at the end of the month.
I'm really willing this drug to work - I want it to.Smile

Hi Gogs

My expereince wasn't good, sickness and not able to hold food in.Sad Blink
It was awful, didn't have any control BUT we are all different and the meds can do great things to other people.

Good luck, hope it is successful for you.

My blood pressure is starting to rise a bit, here's hoping it doesn't continue.

Did anyone else experience blood pressure problems with this drug?
I understand it's one of the side effects that might cause you to have to abandon it, I don't want
to do that now as I've had no other side effects.

Hi Jane,

Hopefully your tummy will eventually settle.

I've just checked my BP and it's back to normal again. They did say because it's a serious problem that I
should check it two weekly, with me that equates with every second dayLOL

Not that I'm anxious or stressedBigGrin
